image gallery - painting the house

painting the house - this really should be called 'staining the house' but we doubt many would know what we were on about if we called it that. The house cladding is textured cement sheet which, when treated correctly, looks just like wood!. A special stain is required (expensive) but a couple of coats of this stuff lasts a long long time (more than twenty years). The cement sheet is impervious to fire and doesn't rot, warp or dry out. Heaps better than hardwood, totally renewable and recyclable; and light and flexible but very strong in case we get a earthquake (which we do occasionally). The finish colour is 'Redwood'.

This work was done in various stages between 2007 and 2008, Hua doing most of the painting with occasional help from Sasha.
